Wine Tasting in the Santa Barbara Funk Zone

Santa Barbara has long been a popular travel destination due to the beautiful beaches, the great weather and the countless outdoor activities offered. But it also is a famous wine destination. The 2004 movie “Sideways” featured the areas signature Pinot Noir, about 25% of all grapes grown the the Santa Barbara county are Pinot Noir.

Currently more than 175 wineries and vineyards are located in the Santa Barbara county, many of which have tasting rooms in downtown Santa Barbara in the Funk Zone area. The urban wine trail connects these different tasting rooms in which visitors can learn about and taste a variety of wines, all from the Santa Barbara area. A wine tasting tour is a great and fun way to show around friends and family from out of town, celebrate a special occasion or just have a good time with your friends, especially since all the tasting rooms are located in downtown within a few blocks from the beach. You can walk around and sip some wine, go shopping and work on your teint. Maps for the urban wine trail are available in most wineries and at tourist information points.
