Spent an afternoon hiking along paths at the Sperling Preserve, Ellwood Mesa in Isla Vista, CA. These trails are great for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. At the top one can see the view of the Santa Barbara Channel, Channel Islands and Pacific Ocean. Also famous for eucalyptus trees where thousands of Monarch butterflies come in November through March every year. - Sujin Chon

I went to rite aid and I see the same worker all the time. He's always happy and I asked him why. He told me it's always important to treat others the way you want to be treated. Later I was walking into Panda Express to get lunch. This man Lee was asking for someone to help him buy something to eat. I thought about what that man had said to me at rite aid. I took him in bought him lunch along with some goodies to eat later and two bottles of water. We ate lunch and talked for almost an hour. He came from Virginia originally and has a masters degree. Family life was hard and he became an alcoholic while in college. He moved to San Diego 5 years ago and has been in Santa Barbara for 7 days. You never know people's story until you ask. I'm so lucky to have met this guy! If you see someone that you can inspire do it because they could inspire you in the process! -Erin Maloney
