A Look Into Santa Barbara’s Soulful Singer
As I walk up to the singer’s house, I am greeted with a friendly, relaxed and upbeat personality with a big smile and a passion for her musical dreams to match.
Moving to Santa Barbara from Los Angeles, Jasmine Guerrero graduated from Westmont and has been secretly shaping her brand for the perfect release of her music ever since.
Collaborating With The Best
Working with professional producers like Trevor Welch, Mac Montgomery, Dan Bos, and Erik Mason. In addition to a heavy team of producers, Guerrero has recorded in studios like PLYRZ Studios, Truetone Productions, Westmont Studios, Santa Barbara Sound Design, and many other studios in private locations within Santa Barbara. Guerrero has been working in these state-of-the-art studios over the years with talented producers for her upcoming EP, Rough Cut. Some of her previous musical collaborations include I, Anima and Brian Fresco from the Vic Mensa and Chance The Rapper affiliated crew, SAVEMONEY. Jasmine’s sound is heavily inspired by Soul, R&B, Electronic Pop music, and fused with a style of songwriting that is authentic to her personal life experiences.
Using Music For Personal Connection
Within her songwriting, Jasmine aims to connect with people on a very real, and relatable level. The concept of her upcoming EP, Rough Cut is a story of a life lesson she learned from the hardships that come with self-doubt. During a time when she was feeling worthless, she heard a voice that said, “Even diamonds are rough at first.” This helped her understand that even something is that so beautiful, valued, and desired started out rough. The concept of this EP, is helping people understand that it is okay to be rough and imperfect. Everyone on earth is continually being refined into something more beautiful.
Jasmine has been singing and performing since she was a kid, but as she desired to be an artist she was met with some interesting challenges. As Jasmine started out her music career, she starting battling with self-doubt and the importance of her voice. When she came to the realization that launching herself as an artists would not be in vain, but would benefit others as well, she was inspired to complete what she set out to do. The idea that her music could help people, spurred her on to push through the insecurities and self-doubting struggles to release herself as an artist.
The Final Product
Pulling from her own learning experiences, Guerrero writes her songs in hopes to connect with the hearts of people on a real and honest level. Bringing a level of authenticity to the forefront gives her listeners to opportunity to be self-meditative while listening to her upbeat Pop and R&B inspired music. Along with her EP, Jasmine completed the release with a dance video for her single Sink.
Jasmine Guerrero’s EP Rough Cut is currently available for streaming on Spotify and for purchase on iTunes May 16th.
For an artist that is just beginning to emerge, her future definitely looks bright.
