Opening Weekend On Mammoth Mountain

The Perfect Weekend Getaway!

The perfect weekend getaway! Mammoth Mountain ski resort was going off for the first weekend of the season! Although not as snowy as we wanted it was so much fun to snowboard down the white mountain tops!

Driving from Santa Barbara, Mammoth is roughly six hours away.  Leaving Santa Barbara get on the 101  Southbound, then in Ventura merge onto the 126, then take the I-5 South to the 14 North, take that to the 395 North! The drive is beautiful! Although this is a bit of a steep drive the activities in mammoth are endless! The fresh cold air is a nice change of pace from our “winter” in Santa Barbara. Some fun activities are snowboarding, skiing, ice skating, bowling, bar hopping, and going for a dip in the hot springs at the end of a long day in the snow is absolutely perfect.

Going up the gondola the gorgeous views throughout the different times of the day are amazing and a good way to decompress before hitting the slopes! For opening weekend there were only a few runs open but hopefully in a few weeks there will be more snow and it will be even better!

There are a few options when it comes to snowboarding and skiing on the mountain. There are day passes and there are season passes. Day passes cost anywhere from $80- $100 depending on the weekend, and a college pass costs $300 and is good for the whole season! I personally recommend a college pass if you plan on going more than once during the season because it will pay for itself. Mammoth is the perfect winter wonderland for a romantic getaway or a big group of friends!
