It is 5 o’clock somewhere: Happy Hour at Dargan’s

While walking over State Street looking for a Happy Hour spot, Dargan’s is nowhere to be found. Although downtown, Dargan’s remains hidden behind places such as Blush, Tonic, and Habit Burger. It takes a closer look, and a stroll off the normal path, to step into the Irish Pub located between State Street and Chapala, right on Ortega.

Being an Irish Pub, Dargan’s tries to preserve a more distinct atmosphere, all by pleasing the normal crowd. Draft beers are off a dollar or two, which also counts for well drinks and other beverages. When it comes to food, Dargan’s recently changed their Happy Hour menu to a smaller, but more Irish induced food pallet. Needless to say, the Irish Nachos might not appeal to everybody, but being distinct also means taking a risk on the menu.

Besides the reduced prices, Dargan’s Irish Pub offers large sitting areas in the front and back, and an Irish menu for lunch and dinner. For the sport enthusiasts, Dargan’s has numerous TVs hanging on their walls, showing everything from College Football, over NHL, NBA, Baseball and soccer. Moreover, they recently added the NFL package, and are showing the games on Sundays, all linked with Happy Hour drinks and food, and a raffle with a lucky winner.

For pool table fans, Dargan’s offers one of the greatest places for a 9-Ball. Four tables invite people to engage in a game or two, hang out with friends, or even get to know new people by sharing a table. The normal price per hour is $10, but during Happy Hour, the owners reduced the price to $5. The Dart platform in the corner invites for a solid game of 301, and makes you practice your Bulls Eye’s.

Happy Hour or not, it is totally worth checking out Dargan’s downtown Santa Barbara. No matter the reason, Dargan’s invites people, young and old, to stop by and enjoy great company. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday 3-7 PM and Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 PM.
